How to Install or Update a Product from the MQL5 Market

A 5-step guide to purchasing, installing, and updating any Expert Advisor or indicator from the MQL5 Marketplace directly in MetaTrader 5.

Overview

The MQL5 Marketplace is integrated directly into MetaTrader 5, so installing any purchased product is straightforward. Here's the full process.


Prerequisites

  • MetaTrader 5 installed
  • An MQL5 account (free to create at mql5.com)
  • Your MQL5 account logged in inside MT5

Logging into MQL5 inside MT5

  1. In MT5: Tools → Options → Community tab
  2. Enter your MQL5 username and password
  3. Click OK

Step 1: Purchase the Product

  1. Visit the product page on mql5.com/en/market
  2. Click "Buy" (or "Rent" if that option is available)
  3. Complete the payment through the MQL5 payment system
  4. You'll receive a confirmation email

Step 2: Open the Market in MT5

  1. In MT5, click the "Market" tab in the Navigator panel (or go to View → Market)
  2. If you don't see it, press Ctrl+M to show the Market window
  3. Log in if prompted

Step 3: Find Your Purchased Product

  1. In the Market window, click "My Products" tab at the top
  2. You'll see all products you've purchased
  3. Find the product you want to install

Step 4: Install

  1. Click on the product
  2. Click the "Install" button
  3. MT5 will download and install it automatically
  4. The product will appear in your Navigator under Expert Advisors (or Indicators)

Step 5: Attach to a Chart

  1. In the Navigator, find your EA or indicator
  2. Drag and drop it onto a chart, or double-click it
  3. The input settings dialog will appear — configure your inputs
  4. Click OK

For EAs: make sure AutoTrading is enabled (the green button in the toolbar).


Updating a Product

When an update is available:

  1. Go to Market → My Products
  2. Products with available updates will show an "Update" button
  3. Click Update — the new version downloads and installs automatically
  4. Restart MT5 to ensure the new version is active (some updates require this)

Troubleshooting

Product not showing in Navigator:

  • Try refreshing: right-click Navigator → Refresh
  • Restart MT5

"Product not purchased" error on attach:

  • Make sure you're logged into the correct MQL5 account
  • Check Tools → Options → Community

EA won't trade:

  • Enable AutoTrading button (top toolbar, should be green)
  • Check if "Allow live trading" is checked in the EA properties
  • Check the Experts tab in the terminal for error messages
